Conleen House was originally acquired by the present owner in 1988 and used as a Fishing Guest House until 1993 under the management of a resident couple, an accomplished Fisherman and his wife, a Cordon Bleu Cook. The venture was highly successful and attracted a large and regular clientele, predominantly Fishermen, who enjoyed the renowned trout fishing on the Lough, the cuisine, and the freedom to fish at any time of the day with a boat readily available. Tuition was provided for novices; fly-tying facilities; and the services of local gillies.
Many visitors, however, came simply to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Conleen House, the lake, and the surrounding countryside and just to relax for a week or more.
Apart from the obvious attraction of excellent fishing on Lough Sheelin there is considerable scope for other activities, for example, rough shooting and wild fowling, shooting clays, archery, sailing and painting, to name but a few that would lend themselves to this type of property with its 5 acres of land and a private Island offshore.
For fishing, our original tackle room remains fully equipped and there are three good boats with outboard motors, oars, lifejackets, and everything needed should they be of interest.
Conleen House could also be used as a small Retirement Home, Nursing or Convalescent Home subject to suitable adaptations.
The present owners are now retired and not in a position to undertake a new business start up. They are however open to proposals from third parties to lease Conleen House, fully furnished and equipped if desired, in order that the property might be used again as a Guest House, for some other commercial purpose, or simply as a domestic residence or holiday home.
