THE GROUNDS

The Grounds extend to a little over 5 acres comprising:

Three large Paddocks, currently grazed by cattle and sheep. The grounds are enclosed by dry stone walls, well fenced, gated and protected by electric fences.

A mature Orchard in which there is a lovely stone Boathouse and the remains of two original stone cottages. The existence of these old dwellings would probably facilitate planning consent to renovate or replace them were it to be sought. Meanwhile, they provide rather a nice feature and make excellent playhouses for children.

A private Marina provides access to a sheltered bay, formed in part by our own private Island, approximately 50 yards offshore, and a natural causeway across the mouth of the bay. The Island occupies just over one acre and is heavily wooded but quite accessible and unspoilt. The Marina itself provides a sheltered and safe mooring for any number of boats. (Pictured below)

The grounds contain a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and hedgerows; some planted to order, for example the landscaped Driveway, and some sown by nature over time.

There are also numerous flowers and shrubs planted around the house itself and well cultivated lawns on three sides.

The Lake and its' surrounding area is designated as a site of special environmental interest and hosts a variety of bird and marine life.
