The Grounds extend to a little over 5 acres comprising two large Paddocks, both grazed by cattle but equally suitable for horses, sheep and other livestock. Both are well fenced, gated, and protected by electric fences.
A mature Orchard, within which is a lovely old stone Boathouse and the remains of two very old stone cottages. [The existence of these cottages would probably facilitate planning consent to renovate or replace them were it sought.] Meanwhile, they provide a nice feature and make excellent playhouses for children.
A private Marina provides access to a sheltered bay, formed in part by our own Island, approximately 50 yards offshore. The Island occupies just over one acre and is heavily wooded but quite accessible and unspoilt. The Marina provides a sheltered and safe mooring for any number of boats.
The grounds contain a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and hedgerows; some planted to order, for example the landscaped Driveway, and some sown by nature over time.
There are also numerous flowers and shrubs planted around the house itself and well cultivated lawns on three sides.
The Lake and its surrounding area is designated as a site of special environmental interest and hosts a variety of bird and marine life.
